Is Xinjiang, a troubled region of China ?
The region has at least 47 ethnic groups all regarded as Chinese, among which the muslim Uighurs are one. For a long time the regoin has been part of the Chinese empire and later Republic. In the past the Chinese had tolerated the free movement of people from the "stans" into their regions and now they want to make Chinese territories independent from China! The separatists want to make the region into a muslim state and if they succeed, they will tend to oppress the other ethnic groups. It is in no one's interests because we have all seen how oppressive muslim tyranny is. Just look at Iran and the Talibans. Rabiya Kadeer and her gang are instigating muslims to riot and kill other fellow non-uighur chinese. These people live outside of China and have no interest in wanting peace in Xinjiang. The Uighurs in China only want to live in peace and get on with their daily lives. It is perverse that some western countries that are trying to fight muslim extremists should harbour and support these extremists. We supported Saddam once and found to our cost that it worked against us in the long run. One day when Bradford or Leicester decide to separate from the UK, we will then wake up to our follies.
