Why is my engine coolant muddy looking? Do I have a blown head gasket?

I took a trip to syracuse yesterday got back and every thing was fine. I went to pick my brother up this morning from work and when I get to his house my car had some smoke coming out of it. my brother checks where the smoke is coming from and it were the engine coolant goes, when he opens the reservoir the coolant looks a muddy color and its thick, I took it to the JIFFY LUBE and the mechanic said usually that means a cracked head gasket, which usually means a new car. I've only had the car a year and its a 1999 Honda Accord. please some one give me some uplifting news as to how to get this fix (if possible) with out breaking my pockets.
