Do you think a new religion is likely to come along sooner or later?

I was watching a doentary about Islam today & it occurred to me that a new religion could emerge at any time as it did 1400 years ago. Many faiths have but most remain in obscurity. Are we too educated to accept a new religion & allow it to flourish? Are New Age beliefs getting a foothold or perhaps something else?
